Protected Under Federal Law
The federal Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, financing, and advertising of housing based on:
- Race
- Color
- National origin
- Religion
- Sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity)
- Familial status (households with children under 18 and pregnant persons)
- Disability
§ 02
Protected Under Connecticut Law
Connecticut General Statutes § 46a-64c extends protections beyond federal law. In addition to every class listed above, Connecticut prohibits housing discrimination based on:
- Ancestry
- Marital status
- Age (18 and older)
- Lawful source of income, including Section 8 and other housing subsidies
- Sexual orientation
- Gender identity or expression
- Status as a veteran
- Status as a victim of domestic violence
- Intellectual disability, learning disability, and mental disability

Our Practices
In keeping with our commitment, we pledge to:
- Provide equal professional service to every buyer, seller, renter, and landlord, regardless of any protected characteristic.
- Advertise properties and our services in a way that welcomes all qualified buyers and renters.
- Refuse to participate in any discriminatory practice in the sale, rental, financing, or advertising of housing.
- Make reasonable accommodations and modifications for individuals with disabilities consistent with federal and Connecticut law.
- Respect tenants’ lawful sources of income, including housing vouchers and subsidies.

Professional Standards
Article 10 of the National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics prohibits discrimination by REALTORS® based on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, national origin, sexual orientation, and gender identity. We hold ourselves to these standards in every client relationship.
